St. Mary's C.E. Junior School, Oxted, Surrey.

About St. Mary's School

We have 360 children aged 7 to 11 Years old. There are four year groups (Years 3 through to 6) with three classes in each Year.

We have strong links with St. Mary's Church.
We are a Voluntary Aided School - part of the
Southwark Diocese family of schools.

The school visit the church for services at Harvest, Christmas and Lent.  They are also invited to take part in Education Sunday.

There is a very active and supportive "Friends of St. Mary's" (PTA) which organises many fund-raising activities.

The May Fayre is a joint fund raising activity between the church and the school where the children enjoy some maypole dancing, the choir entertains the crowds and there are many stalls and games to enjoy around the school.

The staff are a very experienced and committed team, many of whom have been at
St. Mary's for many years.
A wide range of clubs are arranged during

lunch-times and after school, including Art,

Running, Netball, Recorders, Dance, Football and gardening.

The school has many strong traditions, including a long-standing school-uniform, regular homework throughout the school, a program of visitors and class-outings, and many others.

One of the activities the year 4 children thoroughly enjoyed was Aztec Day. Using the display of key artefacts which included a model of the famous aztec sunstone the children had to interpret clues linked to the calendar signs of the Aztecs.  There was also an opportunity to taste different mexican foods and make their own quesadillas.

The hall is used for assembly, hymn practice, PE, lunch, activity days and of course concerts and plays when a stage is set up.
